Productboard’s Product Makers community: 7000+ and growing

Celebrating 7,000 Product Maker community members

Community is important – it’s where we find other product professionals who are just as excited to nerd out on the nitty gritty details of our day-to-day. It’s where we talk about our craft, learn from each other, find a mentor or mentee, be a sounding board for an idea, or just to listen when things go wrong.

We are so excited and proud to share that Productboard’s Product Makers community has grown to over 7,000 members. We, obviously, could never have done it without every single one of you. So thank you. And we’d like to share a little bit about how we got here and what you can expect in the future (so join us now if you haven’t already!).

A brief history of Product Makers

Back in April 2017, we at Productboard officially launched a customer-only community on Slack as a place for us to engage customers, a space for folks to share best practices and help each other out, plus get product updates, and participate in betas.

Over time we learned a lot about our product, our customers, and their needs. In fact, some of the early integrations we created (like our Slack integration) were because of the feedback we got and the pain we experienced in running a community on Slack.

In the summer of 2021, we launched a new community called Product Makers as a more open, discoverable space for connecting the best and brightest in product management with the mission to bring together product professionals so they can learn, grow, shape, and advocate for Product Excellence

“The Product Makers community has helped PMs get better at the craft of product, learn with each other, and share their best practices. It’s also helped us, as company who are building a platform for product managers, to build a tight feedback loop around our product, share updates, and communicate how Productboard can help PMs build products that matter together.”

-Scott Baldwin, Productboard Community Lead & Product Evangelist

What Product Makers means to its makers

But don’t just take our word for it – see what some of our community members have to say.

“I love the community because each and every one of the makers bring so much to the table! We have different levels of experience, different mindsets, and lessons learned. Sharing that with each other is really valuable to me. I am so happy that people are not afraid of admitting to their mistakes, what worked and what did not for them. It gives you perspective when you are looking for some direction and get to learn what could happen and what you can avoid.”

– Viktoria Davidova, Product Manager at Hello Retail

“The community has enriched my life. I have built long-lasting connections and relationships with other product managers and leaders. I have conceptualized ideas that will enable me to sharpen my leadership skills further.”

– Ronke Majekodunmi, Sr. Product Manager at PayPal

“It’s a great place to be inspired by the objectives and use cases of others. These folks are working hard at enabling their organizations to work smarter. You never know what aspect you needed to look at a little more deeply than you did just before!”

– Mike McClain, Product Manager at Prime Technologies.

And there’s even a book club to dive deeper into all things product.
