The Internet’s Own Boy: The Story of Aaron Swartz

This Monday, March 18th, productboard and HubHub are excited to host a screening for one of the documentary movies in the One World “Promítej i ty” and People in Need project. ?

The movie is “The Internet’s Own Boy: The Story of Aaron Swartz.”

It follows the story of programming prodigy and activist Aaron Swartz. Swartz was someone whose fingerprints are all over the internet, including developing the RSS protocol to co-founding Reddit. But it was his groundbreaking work in social justice and political organizing combined with his aggressive approach to information access that ensnared him in a two-year legal nightmare. It was a battle that ended with the taking of his own life at the age of 26. Aaron’s story touched a nerve with people far beyond the online communities in which he was a celebrity. This film is a personal story about what we lose when we are tone deaf about technology and its relationship to our civil liberties.

After the movie, we are also very excited to host Martin Kožíšek, an expert on Internet Security, for a discussion.

We are looking forward to meeting you with our popcorn-warmed arms! ?
