We’re looking for a Backend Engineer (Kotlin or a Java Engineer excited to transition to Kotlin) to join our Prioritization team, one of the most used and visually dynamic parts of Productboard. You’ll work on complex features that help our customers make the best decisions for their products, ensuring that our Prioritization domains remain high-performing, flexible, and ready to support a wide array of use cases.
In this role, you’ll collaborate daily with our Product Manager, Product Designer, Engineering Manager, and eight other engineers at various levels—from junior to staff. You’ll be a key contributor to architecture discussions, code reviews, and observability efforts, leveraging our Kotlin & Spring Boot stack in a distributed environment that uses federated GraphQL for data fetching.
Beyond hands-on coding, you’ll play a pivotal role in mentoring and guiding the team, contributing to our culture of customer-centricity, collaboration, and ownership. As part of a hybrid work setup, you’ll join us frequently in our Prague office to foster deeper connections with your peers, while still having the flexibility to collaborate remotely. What You'll Achieve
Develop the Core Product: You'll have a significant hand in building and refining our user-facing product. Your work will directly impact our users as you ship your contributions to production regularly, ensuring the product's performance, scalability, and robustness. You’ll enjoy the freedom to direct your work and share ownership of the product.
Develop Across the Entire Tech Stack:Â Craft robust backend systems using technologies like Ruby and Kotlin, and create intuitive frontends with React and Typescript. Your work will bridge server and client sides, making our product more efficient and user-friendly.
Tackle Complex Challenges: Bring your creativity to resolve challenging technical issues and be involved in every phase of feature development – from concept to implementation and beyond.
Collaborate Cross-Functionally:Â Work alongside product managers, designers and other partners. Your collaborative efforts will be essential in delivering impactful results and engaging in the dynamic product development process.
