Linear MCP connector

Overview

Productboard is where product teams decide what to build and why, with customer feedback and insights, prioritization, specs, and stakeholder-friendly roadmaps. Linear is where engineering teams plan and track the work, in milestones, issues, and development cycles.

The Linear MCP connector lets Spark work with your Linear workspace through conversational prompts. Create issues, check on engineering progress, and bring Linear context into product specs and briefs while you write them with Spark in Productboard.

Hand an approved spec to engineering

When a spec is approved in Productboard, Spark can create the Linear project from your team's project template, add milestones, and break the spec into issues with acceptance criteria, with links from each entity back to the initiative or feature and its specification in Productboard.

Create Linear issues

Ask Spark to create a Linear issue with a title, priority, and description — "In Linear, create a new issue titled 'Fix login timeout' with high priority." The issue lands in Linear without you switching tools.

Track engineering work against the roadmap

Check delivery backlogs, monitor issue status, and follow project progress by asking Spark. Spark can also summarize the current cycle across teams for a product area: what moved, what's blocked, and what's at risk.

Spark can read Linear milestone dates, cycle status, and the latest project status update before suggesting status and health updates for related Productboard features. Then Spark can draft a stakeholder update that flags work slipping against the roadmap.

Bring engineering context into product docs

Pull Linear data into Productboard documents and incorporate engineering context into product specs, briefs, and strategy docs.

Turn a release into launch content

Spark pulls a Linear release and its issues, references the Productboard features and the customer problems they address, and drafts release notes, a changelog entry, or an enablement summary.

Setup

Any Spark user can connect Linear. Connectors are set up per user, and no admin setup is required in Productboard.

From any Spark chat, open the connectors modal, click Connect next to Linear, and authorize with your Linear account. You'll return to Productboard with the connection active in every Spark chat.
