Business Strategy & Insights Manager

San Francisco

About the team

At Productboard, we believe in making products that matter – products that not only solve real-world problems but also satisfy their users.

The Growth team’s goal is to make it exceptionally easy for people around the world to discover, trial, buy, and use our suite of products and services. As a result, our team is responsible for driving sustainable business growth by increasing acquisition, monetization, conversion, and retention throughout the end-to-end customer funnel. We use experimentation, customer feedback, and data-driven insights to guide our work and optimize the customer experience.

As a Manager on the Business Insights & Strategy team, you’ll tackle some of the most complex and high-priority questions across Productboard’s go-to-market, product, and marketing organizations. This is a highly visible role that combines analytical rigor, strategic thinking, and business acumen. You’ll be expected to independently lead projects from problem framing to execution, working closely with senior stakeholders to uncover insights, shape strategy, and operationalize recommendations. Whether you’re analyzing funnel dynamics, modeling pricing scenarios, or helping define the packaging for a new product offering, you’ll bring clarity and direction to ambiguous business problems. This is an ideal role for someone with a consulting or strategy background who thrives in a fast-paced, data-rich environment and wants to drive real business impact.

What you’ll be working on

  • Break down complex, ambiguous problems into structured analyses that drive clear recommendations.
  • Combine quantitative data (e.g., product usage, revenue trends) with qualitative inputs (e.g., customer feedback, internal interviews) to develop well-rounded insights.
  • Act as an internal strategy consultant to stakeholders across Product, Marketing, Sales, Finance, and HR.
  • Own end-to-end execution of projects—framing, analysis, alignment, and delivery.
  • Synthesize findings into compelling presentations and deliver recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Help identify and prioritize high-impact opportunities through ongoing collaboration with functional leaders.
  • Contribute to building a strategic operating rhythm for the business through dashboards, planning tools, and frameworks.
  • Bring a generalist mindset with the flexibility to pivot across domains as priorities evolve.

About you

Before you dive into this: Don’t worry if you don’t check all our boxes. It's just our dream list! If you have potential, we’ll help you grow.

  • 5–7 years of experience in business strategy, analytics, or consulting roles; prior experience in SaaS or high-growth tech a plus.
  • 2+ years in management consulting, investment banking, or similar strategic environments preferred.
  • Strong analytical toolkit; fluent in Excel and experienced with SQL, Looker, or similar data tools.
  • Ability to lead complex projects with minimal oversight and drive alignment across cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with a knack for simplifying complexity.
  • Demonstrated ability to connect data to business decisions and to influence non-technical stakeholders.
  • Highly organized, with a bias for action and an ownership mentality.
  • Passionate about solving business problems and eager to grow within a strategic leadership path.
