Senior Product Designer - Design Systems

Do you love scaling good design?

Are you excited about leveling up your work through carefully crafted, purpose-driven interfaces that anticipate user needs? Then we want to hear from you!

About our team

At Productboard, we believe in making products that matter – products that not only solve real-world problems, but also delight their users. To help us with this mission, we’re looking for a driven, inventive product designer to join our design systems team.

A team of seasoned experience-builders, we know that the happier our team and company, the better our work will be. Ours is a genuine, collaborative team atmosphere, where you can self-realize, build core skills, and move up the design career ladder, whether you’re into management or want to stick with the IC track. Interested? Let us know!

You’ll be joining a company where everything matters, most importantly you.

What you’ll do in a typical week

  • Work closely in a cross-functional team to ensure the design system and all its parts are both beautifully crafted and well-maintained
  • Advocate for the adoption and advancement of the design system itself
  • Design, prototype, and document interaction patterns
  • Work with designers and engineers to evolve UX and UI patterns, giving and receiving feedback in design critiques and conversations
  • Pair-design with designers from different teams to see how you can improve the foundations of their work
  • Collaborate with our UX writers to uphold our product’s voice, and evolve content guidelines
  • Organize robust Figma libraries and keep them neat and usable

About you

  • You’ve designed a lot of UIs, have a deep knowledge of interaction patterns, and can deliver high-quality work
  • You’re a systemic thinker who can turn complex design problems into intuitive user experiences
  • You can identify patterns and standardize them for different use cases
  • You have built design systems, or have plenty of practice working with them
  • You communicate clearly and build relationships easily
  • You don’t hesitate to own and drive projects, and comment on processes
  • You seek feedback to grow and give feedback candidly and with empathy in turn
  • You can come to our London or Prague office at least twice a week. (If you’re currently far from both, we can help you move closer.)

Bonus points for…

  • Familiarity with accessibility standards that apply to digital products
  • Experience in a B2B SaaS organization with a mature product design practice

Don’t tick off every single bullet? Don’t worry, this is our dream list. If you’ve got potential, we’ll help you grow.

A peek into our world

From the outside, it can be tough to imagine what working here is like. That’s why we asked Cocuma to help. Their impartial view gives potential starters a good look inside our company.

After you’ve read that, head to our design team’s page to learn who’s on the team, how we work, and take a look at the work we’ve published. Go see how we wrote the team’s charter, too.

Jan, our previous Design Systems Lead, spoke at Figma’s Schema last fall about crafting code-aligned UI kits.

And meet Zdenek too, one of our Product Design Managers. Get his take on what life’s really like as a designer at Productboard.

Julia, a Berliner from Catalonia, and our Product Designer, describes her path to joining us in this interview.

Or if you’re on the move, listen to this podcast episode about building great products, and this one about delight, both featuring our CEO and co-founder Hubert.

What designers at Productboard say

"What I love most about Productboard is our customer-centricity, and the daily opportunity to work on challenging problems with incredibly smart people. Our collaboration culture is really strong, both within the team and across product teams, resulting in great outcomes. This is rewarding in itself and definitely not just “work” – we always find time to laugh, eat, or grab a beer together.”

– Michaela Bartkova, Senior Product Designer, 1 year on board

“The design team is the reason I joined: it’s well structured, full of talented professionals to learn from, and most importantly we have a very rich feedback culture. I stay, because the company is product-focused and gives design the importance it truly has.”

– Julia Rosich, Product Designer, 3 years on board

“Productboard’s design team is incredibly strong and passionate – not just about design itself, but also about the product management domain and its challenges. There are many experienced designers who are always willing to offer a helping hand. Actually, the design collaboration is the thing I most enjoy here – especially our regular design critiques twice a week where we also have a chance to discuss designs with a broader design group from various product tribes.

– Jan Toman, Design System Lead, 2 years on board

“I think Productboard is a lot more than a product company, although it does that pretty well too. For me, it's more of a community of people who are like-minded, passionate, and growth-oriented. It’s an environment that gives me challenges, supports me, and enables me to grow and self-realize. I think that's the ultimate goal. To self-realize through work. Why else would you be doing it?”

– Filip Zajic, Design Intern, 9 months on board
