Senior Product Designer – Data Visualization and Reporting

London

Do you love bringing data to life?

If you’re as good with numbers as you are with pixels and curves, keep reading! We’re looking for the next Jony Ive (or Dieter Rams) of data visualization. Someone who gets excited about creating elegant purpose-driven designs that can help our users interpret all the data signals headed their way.

About our team

At Productboard, we believe in making products that matter – products that not only solve real-world problems, but also delight their users. To help us with this mission, we’re looking for a driven, inventive senior product designer to join our in-product reporting team. You'll be focused on helping customers make sense of all the data and trends we track in our product.

A team of seasoned experience-builders, we know that the happier our team and company, the better our work will be. Ours is a genuine, collaborative team atmosphere, where you can self-realize, build core skills, and move up the design career ladder, whether you’re into management or want to stick with the IC track. Interested? Let us know!

You’ll be joining a company where people matter and make an impact, just like you will.

What you’ll do in a typical week

  • Work closely in a cross-functional team to ensure our in-product reporting is beautifully and simply presented and supports our customers in their decision making
  • Lead the discovery and design activities of features that help our customers get a better grasp of their data, joining forces with a product manager and a tech lead to understand customer needs and shape solutions.
  • Design, prototype, and document smart new data visualization patterns
  • Work with designers and engineers to evolve said visualization patterns, giving and receiving feedback in design critiques and conversations
  • Pair-design with designers from different teams to improve each other’s work
  • Evaluate what you've shipped, and continuously drive improvements
  • Collaborate with our UX writer to uphold our product’s voice, and evolve content guidelines for reporting and presenting data
  • Participate in wider design team initiatives (workshopping, expanding the design system, improving tooling, mentoring designers, hiring)

About you

  • You’ve designed a lot of UIs, have a deep knowledge of interaction patterns, and can deliver high-quality work
  • You’ve worked on data visualizations in products before, or have plenty of practice with metrics and product analytics, including making sense of them
  • You’re a systemic thinker who can turn complex design problems into intuitive user experiences
  • You communicate clearly and build relationships easily
  • You don’t hesitate to own and drive projects, and comment on processes
  • You seek feedback to grow and give feedback candidly and with empathy in turn
  • You can come to our London or Prague office at least twice a week. (If you’re currently far from both, we can help you move closer.)

Bonus points for…

  • Knowing that Tufte, Bertin or Cairo aren’t foreign cities. (No need to agree with all they said and wrote, though.)
  • Experience in a B2B SaaS organization with a mature product design practice

Don’t tick off every one of our bullets? Don’t worry, this is our dream list. If you’ve got potential, we’ll help you grow.

What designers at Productboard say

“What I love most about Productboard is our customer-centricity, and the daily opportunity to work on challenging problems with incredibly smart people. Our collaboration culture is really strong, both within the team and across product teams, resulting in great outcomes. This is rewarding in itself and definitely not just “work” – we always find time to laugh, eat, or grab a beer together.”

– Michaela Bartkova, Senior Product Designer, a year and a half on board

“I joined Productboard for its impactful and inspiring mission. What I found here is a company with a mature design culture. Design is really valued here, there’s a lot of collaboration and everything is rooted in customer insights by staying close to them. Product teams operate in an empowered way which I enjoy a lot. The company grows quickly and the best part is that I grow with it through the right challenges and opportunities to do great work. On top of all that, I get to work every day with professionals with whom I have fun.”
