5 reasons I joined Productboard EMEA Sales team

My name is Eanna, and I recently joined Productboard as an Enterprise Account Executive. Every job change involves a complex set of criteria. I’d like to share the top five reasons why I decided to join Productboard, and my experience since joining this incredible team.

#1 Value proposition

I have always been attracted to companies that have a strong product-market fit. As a salesperson, it is important to know that your customers and prospects have a specific challenge that the market does not easily or readily address. A compelling value proposition is key. Productboard solves a specific challenge. Product teams live in issue trackers, spreadsheets, and Powerpoint, which can make prioritization and surfacing roadmaps a challenge. The Productboard value proposition of a single place for consolidating feedback, prioritizing feature ideas and aligning everyone on what’s getting built next through dynamic roadmaps directly solves for this specific challenge. Productboard is becoming the system of record for product management. Digital transformation and remote work will only accelerate this paradigm shift. CRM brought sales into the modern era, Productboard will do the same for product. As a previous Salesforce employee, this vision resonated strongly with me.

#2 Company culture

Everyone wants to join a company with a great culture. This was the number one priority for me prior to joining. I was struck throughout the whole interview process by how deeply ingrained the Productboard mission, vision, culture, and values were in every single person I spoke with. This is even more impressive taking into account that Productboard has been a remote company throughout the pandemic. I have been so impressed with the collaboration and support shown across teams. Everyone is operating at the top of their game, and we are all playing on the same team. We find strength in togetherness, and we foster transparency, acting with empathy at all times with customers, colleagues, prospects, and candidates.

In July, Productboard picked up three more Comparably awards Best CEO for Diversity, Best Leadership Team and Best Career Growth. This along with very strong testimonials and scores on Glassdoor copper-fastened my belief that Productboard was a great place to work.

#3 Team

I always like to speak with as many people on a team as possible before joining a company to understand their experience, the culture, and how they see the potential of the business. After speaking with the Productboard launch team for EMEA, led by Ivana Obstova and Stuart Gammon, I was instantly impressed by their vision for success, how excited they were about the market opportunity, and their genuine energy and willingness for their colleagues to succeed. We have a diverse team, spread across a number of offices globally all aligned on making products that matter, together.

I was also impressed by the $72 million in Series C funding that Productboard raised in 2021 from Tiger Global, with participation from Index Ventures, Kleiner Perkins, Sequoia Capital, and Bessemer Venture Partners. This all-star VC cast has backed some of the biggest and most successful exits in tech history.

#4 Market opportunity

Product management as a discipline, generally speaking, is underserved by enterprise technology and software. The product team is at the intersection of innovation and engineering and is the tip of the spear for companies’ GTM efforts. I find the fact that there is no dedicated product management system or category on today’s market fascinating. This represents a massive opportunity for Productboard to own and define this category of software.

Productboard now has 5,000+ customers, including iconic brands like Microsoft, Disney, UiPath, and Zoom. Seeing these numbers filled me with great confidence that Productboard is uniquely positioned to realize its ambitious growth plans for 2022, help serve the needs of our rapidly growing enterprise customer base and help companies get the right products to market, faster.

#5 Growth potential

Today, Productboard is recognized as one of the hottest tech startups, appearing on the Forbes’ Next Billion-Dollar Startups list. I always wanted to be part of an EMEA landing team for such a high potential startup, playing a pivotal role in defining the go-to-market strategy and approach and helping secure some key early wins. Productboard has given me the opportunity to do just that. I believe that we are at a key inflection point and are primed for massive growth here in Europe. With this growth comes a lot of opportunities. I am excited about the size and scope of the challenge and have already learned so much about how market entry works and how to start up an enterprise sales team to meet the needs of customers.

Across my career, my happiest moments came from working on impactful problems with people I admire. Joining Productboard gives me this opportunity daily. It feels amazing to be a member of this long journey to make a positive impact. I am sure that decades later, we will be proud of what we do today.

Ultimately, the reasons behind switching jobs are deeply personal and are different for everyone, but I hope that by sharing my experience, I have provided a good framework for you to make your next employment leap.
